A visual inspection only. Belt replacement and tensioner work can release stored spring force and should be left to a mechanic.

1. Engine cold and key away
Open the bonnet only after the engine stops completely. Keep the key away and never inspect while the engine is running.
冷车并带走钥匙
发动机完全停止后再打开机盖，把钥匙带离车辆；发动机运行时禁止检查。
2. Locate without touching
Use the manual diagram. Shine a light from above; do not place fingers near pulleys, fans or an automatic tensioner.
定位但不要触碰
根据手册图示定位，从上方照明；手指不要靠近皮带轮、风扇或自动张紧器。
3. Look for clear damage
Check for missing ribs, deep transverse cracks, frayed edges, glazing, oil contamination or a belt tracking off-centre.
寻找明显损伤
检查缺齿、横向深裂纹、边缘毛化、表面发亮、油液污染或跑偏。
4. Report, do not adjust
Photograph damage and arrange service. A battery light, rising temperature or broken belt means switch off and tow—the belt may drive the alternator or water pump.
记录但不要调整
拍下损伤并预约维修；若电瓶灯亮、水温升高或皮带断裂，应立即熄火并拖车，因为皮带可能驱动发电机或水泵。
